Introduction
With the release of vista I was excited and noticed that the era of multiple operating systems had returned. Just as when XP was released Computer enthusiasts had both 98 and XP installed. Similarly since the launch of Vista a lot of people now have vista as well as XP installed.



Problem
With multiple OSes we definitely have problems like installing software twice. But a lot of Software and applications can be run from the same location. For example games. Say u were playing NFS MW in XP. You install vista and want to play MW, You have two options, ONE, do the tiresome job of either copying the saved games from the XP drive to the vista drive(and then back if u want to play from XP again) or TWO, restart the system to XP. It is very inconvenient.

Solution-
The best solution i came across is to create virtual folders(aka Hard links, Special Folders. not Virtual folders feature in Vista). What we want to do is have the actual save game files in one location, like XP, and create a virtual folder linking it to them from vista.

Assumptions -

1. XP installed in I:\Windows
2. Vista installed in C:\Windows
3. Games installed in D:\ (eg "e:\NFS Most wanted") (can be anywhere)
4. MW creates saves in XP "I:\Documents and Settings\%username%\my documents\NFS Most Wanted"
5. Req. virtual folder in vista at(MW creates saves here in vista) "C:\users\%username%\documents\NFS Most Wanted"
6. Substitute drive letters, directory and username to ur system specific
7. BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE MOVING FORWARD

There are many options to do this like-

• mapping a folder to a drive then mapping that drive to another folder
• using DOS Commands like SUBST and FSUTIL or
• Shell extensions(playing with objectID, BirthvolumeID etc and desktop.ini scripts)
• Windows Resource kit utility - linkd.exe

These options are messy, unless u r a 5 year veteran Linux admin. After a lot of very hard searching I found the utility called 'Winhardlink'. It does all the dirty work for You. You just have to specify the source directory/file and the target directory/file.

Advantages of WinHardLink(my opinion)

• Works on vista
• Created Hard links work across OSes. i.e. if u create it in vista it will automatically be available as a normal folder in the other OS even if this utility is not installed
• XP cannot differentiate between links and actual folders
• Vista shows a shortcut icon on the hard link but reports as a folder in properties

How-to (example using NFS MW and above assumptions)

1. Download and install WinHardLink in one OS(say vista)
2. Launch from start menu
3. Select Hard Link>New Virtual Folder. a windows will pop up.
4. Click "..." against the 'Alias dir' to select the destination to "C:\users\%username%\documents\NFS Most Wanted" (You may have to create a new folder 'NFS Most wanted'
5. Click "..." against the 'Source dir' to select the location of the saved game to "I:\Documents and Settings\%username%\my documents\NFS Most Wanted"
6. Click OK. You are done.
7. Make sure the checkbox is checked along the folder in the main window of WinHardLink

Testing

• browse to see that the folder exists
• Create a new text file in either folder and put some text in it
• check the other folder for its existence
• cross check by editing both files and re opening from the other folder
• They should behave as normal file folders
• start the game and see that the profile is loaded
• done Now u can play MW from any os without worrying about multiple saves

More Suggested uses

• consolidation of saved games. i.e. u can move the all save games to a central location like "d:\saves\[game-name]" and create virtual folders in both OSes where the games expect the saved games to be. Now u can format/reinstall etc without disturbing saves.
• When one drive is full u can move any folder to another location and just create a hard link for it in its place (see moving the whole MS office folder at the homepage above)
• Use in conjunction with 'saved searches (aka virtual folders)' feature of Vista to have the ultimate control over data accessibility

Sometimes we find that a game is very difficult. At that time we think to use cheat codes but then we realize that we don't know the cheat codes of the game. Then there is no option left for us other than to quit the game.

After reading this full article, you'll never find it difficult to cheat in a game.

To Cheat in games without cheat codes, we'll have to download a memory editor 'Artmoney'. There's a freeware and a pro version available for the download. Freeware version has limited features but it is sufficient for most of the games.

Here, as an example, i have used spider solitare.

1. Open spider solitare and set your eyes on something that you want to change. As and example, we'll use the score of 500, which you have initially in the game. Open Artmoney and click on 'select process' dropdown box, and select 'Spider Solitare'. Try to keep the game window visible in the background. Next, click Search and enter 500 in the box, under Type, select 'All (standard)'. Don't bother with the rest; click OK, and we move to next step.

2. All right, don't be discouraged by search results; these are simple from a search of the entire memory the game is using, which means all adresses in your memory that have a value of 500 are shown on the left-hand side.The trick is that only one of these results contains your score, and you have to find out which one. To do this, switch back to game and play a bit to change your score, and note down your new score. Inmy case it's 495. Now switch back to Artmoney; see that button called filter?Click on it, enter '495' in the text box, and click OK.
What this does is, it goes through all previous results and sees if any of the results have changed to new value, which is 495, and shows only the adresses that have been changed to 495 on the left side. Neat, isin't it? Keep sieving until the number of results in the left hand pane won't reduce, and then use the arrow in the middle to add those results for your editing pleasure.

3. All set aand finished, you have the score in your hands. You can basically do anything you want with it. God mode, literally!Go ahead and right-click on the value to the left and click Edit, enter '100', and press 'Enter'. Switch back to the game and check your score: your score in the game is now 100, and you can continue playing normally with the modified score. If you want your score to stay the same, you can 'Freeze' the score by clicking the checkbox at the far left in the right pane of your value. One thing to be noted is that the freeze function is not a real 'freeze' per se; it will only constantlyscan the value for changes, and if any, change them back top the value we stated for it. So if you are trying to get to achieve god mode, but something in the game takes down all 100 of your health in fraction, the 'death' function will trigger in an instant and you will die before the freeze function can change the value back to 100. So if you are stuck in a situationlike this, you're pretty much dead.



Cheating this way in most multiplayer games is out of question since the values are stored on the server. Even if you succeed, you will be easily detected and rightfully kicked or banned off the server.

Have some decency and don't even try using Artmoney in multiplayer games.

I am playing  WARCRAFT 3 from a long time and now i have
become quiet a good player.

Here are some good tips (mine) which you can use to win battles.

(1). Use the [Shift] key while assigning workers (peons too) to build
up. You can queue up multiple buildings this way to be built by a single worker.
Never keep builder units idle.

(2). Don't hoard gold! If, in first five minutes of the game, you have more
than 350 gold, you are not rich - you are slow! Tech up the research tree, build
more buildings and units. You aren't earning any interest on all that yellow !

(3). Attack and attack early ! We can't stress on this enough. Don't let your
opponent build up, research up, and for God's sake, don't let him expand ! Keep
harassing his base, all the while bolstering your forces, and teching up!

(4). Once you have your first hero, rally your troops to him by setting his
portrait as a rally point (by right clicking on it), for all troop production
buildings. This way any newly created units will automatically take off after
you hero, irrespective of where he is on the map. This really saves a lot of
time.

(5). As Human you can use peasants to creep close to your base. Just convert
some of them to militia (keep some at resources too), and use the rest.

(6). Build orders are very important, but can change from opponent to
opponent. Here's a sample - as soon as the game starts, put four workers on
gold, queue a sixth worker , and put the fifth on your altar (hero production
building). As soon as the second worker appears, put him on your primary troop
production. At the same time, remove one of the guys tasked on gold, and use him
to build a farm (or your race equivalent structure), the seventh worker should
be put on wood, while the fifth worker who should have finished the altar - task
him back to the gold mine. You now have five gold miners, and the rest of your
workforce should either build or focus on wood.

(7). When you attack make sure you pull back units that are wounded, employ
hit and run tactics, and you can keep couple of powerful summoned units (if your
hero is summoner) just out side the enemy base. This way, while retreating, you
get some free hits in case enemy follow you.

(8). When you pull back units, pull them for short distance, regroup, and
focus again. Never pull back entirely from an enemy base.

(9). Focus-fire works wonders with ranged damage units, like riflemen,
archers etc, - but do not use focus-fire when attacking with melee. Simply
attack ground : focus firing will waste precious time, as your melee units will
take damage, just getting into position to attack the unit you focused on.

Assuming university of Rochester researchers proved that students who played action video games a few hours a day for a month improved their preformance by 20 per cent at 'clutter test' - something like a standard eye-test.

Chosen for the research were students at the University who hardly played games. Then those students were given the clutter test. This consists of the following: one needs to identify the oreintation of a 'T' thrown somewhere in a clutter of symbols. Then the students were divided in two groups - one group played Tetris for about an hour a day, and other played Unreal Tournament.

After a month, the tetris players hadn't improved and Unreal Tournament players had improved at clutter test.

Wealthwars is better than exodus3000 (in my opinion).

In both the games, you have to search around mountains, enemy bases etc for money. You can also stole money of different members. You can also buy different weapons. If you have good weapons then it is difficult for other members to steal your money.

I got paid many a times from wealthwars, but i never got paid from exodus3000 because i have never reached the payout limit.
Now i have stopped playing both the games because now i am busy with my blog.
